Photo Star

First of all, I want to say thanks to all of you who were so kind with your comments on the menu board. And a big thanks to all the blogs who featured it. I had more traffic than I have ever had on this site. Made me feel loved;o)

I am so happy to have 100+ followers, so you know what that means....another give away!! I'll let you know what it will be on Tuesday(since Monday is a holiday).

So on to today's post. I told you guys about me participating in the Cultural Arts Fair with the Homemaker's club. I am going to be a demonstrator and will be showing those girls how to decorate on very little money:o) Along with the demonstrations, we have a chance to showcase our crafts, with the chance of winning and moving on to State. 

I saw this sweet little star over at Trey and Lucy. I knew that I had to make one and enter it. Here's mine:

The star came from Hobby Lobby, and right now their Wall decor is 50% off. And their scrapbook paper as well:o)

My star varies slightly from the original. Mine is not Christmas themed. I wanted to hang mine up year round. And I made the seams  tighter. I didn't leave any gaps....just a personal preference. 

I also used ink instead of craft paint to distress the edges. 

I am really happy about this star....and I kinda hope that it doesn't win, so that I can keep it hanging in my house:o)

I have to take the hubs for a little minor surgery today. I'll be nursing him back to health over the weekend, but I plan on hitting a community yard sale while he's snoozing;o) Hope you guys have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!!!!

A winner, and Grad gifts

I hope that you all had a great weekend. I surely did! I got to spend some time with my family. This is the first time in 6 months that we have all been within a 10 mile radius of one another:o) We got to take the kids to the zoo and to a baseball game. They had a FAB time!

This time of year is crazy wild when it comes to social gatherings. And those social gatherings usually involve bringing a gift. Graduations and birthdays hit us hard this time of year. So I have been working hard at getting gifts together. Today I am sharing with you another one of my drawings. Alabama fans...avert your precious little eyes;o) My friend Amy just graduated with her Masters Degree. WAY TO GO AMY!!!!! She is the kind of friend that everyone would die to have. I have never met a more strong, caring and giving woman. Amy is a HUGE University of Auburn fan...I know, try not to gag;o) Although I am not a true Alabama fan, the hubs is..hence the Bama themed office...he actually scoffed at the idea of me drawing a tiger:o)Anyway, I drew Amy a tiger. 

I don't think it turned out as well as the elephant I drew for the hubs, but this one was a lot more difficult. I had fun drawing it, and she said she liked it....:o) Regardless, I'm very proud of her and her accomplishment!!

 I will have the wallets posted tomorrow. I will be selling the extras for $20 each. All proceeds will go to the Red Cross for the flood victims of Nashville, Tennessee.

Cards "Babies" Can Send

Today is a rainy day. I like a little rain every now and again. We have had some absolutely FAB weather here lately, so I am thankful for a little rain, so that all the things blooming will stay beautiful for a little while longer. Rainy days around here mean getting very little done in the house. I had planned yesterday for today to be a craft day. We started out today making a Thank You note and a We Miss You note for two precious souls at our church. I don't think it's ever too early to show little ones the importance of writing a little note to someone to let them know that you are thankful or that you think they are special. E received a little car from a sweet man on Sunday, and his Sunday school teacher was out for her monthly treatment (which helps her survive). They both deserve cards right now, so we sat down at the coffee table and got to coloring. E is old enough to start writing his letters, so I wrote out the words on blank card stock, and he traced over them with crayon.

S.R. got in on it too and she helped color the "We Miss You" note. She LOVES to color. I think I have a little artist on my hands:o)

 After they were finished coloring their cards, putting stickers on them, and writing out their words, I flipped the cards over and used my "Handmade" stamp, and wrote their names out.

Hopefully there will be a break in the rain so that we can make a trip out to the mail box. This is a big deal to my little ones:o) Later on we will be painting bird houses that I picked up at the $ Tree.
