S.R. is 6, so Let's CELEBRATE with a Giveaway!

This sweet girl is 6 years old today!
Isn't she a cutie?
She was up before anyone else because she was so excited it was her birthday. I had to search for her this morning, and when I called her name, her response was, "6."
Precious:o)
Where's the party? Details of how many hours I have put into making the day perfect? We aren't doing one. Gasp!
I know:o)
She is having some friends over after school, and they will play the afternoon away.
We are taking her to the American Girl Store for her to pick out her very first official American Girl doll. She is beyond ecstatic.
It should be fun!
In other news, I have started a new business venture.
 I am making headbands.
My sister in law started making them for her co-workers and suggested I start making them.
I.am.hooked.
They are adorable, and I wear mine all the time.
S.R. even loves wearing them!
I have been at my sewing machine whipping them up and I realized how much I had missed sewing...it's been a while. Life has gotten in the way, and now that things are slowing down a bit, I can relax to the hum of my machine.
If things take off like I want them to, I will create a separate website for ordering, but for now, I'm sticking to Facebook as my avenue for orders.
I also have a new model. S.R. and I got tired of posing for pictures, so I needed another volunteer.
Her name is Miss Kitty Tabitha.
She's not fond of having her photo taken, but she was willing to help a friend out.
Notice the solemness of her demeanor. I might be solemn as well if I didn't have nostrils...
hopefully all of you still have your nostrils...I don't want to cause offense!
I wanted to show you all angles of the headband, and Miss Kitty Tabitha has been gracious enough to model the angles.
This is the back. I have found that with this particular design, the headband doesn't slide up the head as much as one single elastic band.
The headbands are one-size-fits-most. If you have a tiny head, or if your little one is younger than 4 or 5, I will have an option for bitty heads. Buyers will have to specify when ordering which size they will need.
So to celebrate S.R.'s birthday and the kick off of my new business venture, I am hosting a Facebook giveaway.
All you have to do is like the Fussy Monkey Business page for one entry and share the giveaway on Facebook for a second entry.
The winner will be announced on Wednesday!
So get to likin' and sharin'!

Giveaway #3..Little bit of the Inspired Word

The Bible is our go-to for anything and everything that we need. We are a family that is focused on the Lord. He has given us so many wonderful blessings, and we praise Him everyday, thanking Him for His goodness. Over the past year, I have really consumed myself in the Scriptures, and have enjoyed my renewed love for God. The pages of my Bible are no longer stiff, but are soft from being used so often. That's a really good feeling, isn't it? Soft Bible pages.
The hubs really enjoys reading "The Books of the Bible" version of the Word. It has no chapters or verses. It's reading the Bible as it was written...in letter form. It seems to take the pressure off of running to the Bible for answers and allows you to just read and feel inspired.

The Books of the Bible is a presentation of Today's New International Version in case you  were wondering.
It's easier to read that some of the older versions of the Bible.

So here's how to enter:
You have to be a follower of Fussy Monkey Business....and that's it!
You can enter as many times as your little pea-pickin' heart desires:o)
I hope that you all have a wonderful Friday. We have a play date today and we are really looking forward to it!!
Make sure to enter the other giveaways I have going on right now.

Kitchen Chairs Reveal and a Giveaway

Giveaway announced at the bottom of the post
Last week I shared with you my Christmas decorations. I am still "tweaking" them. We are supposed to be apart of our neighborhood's Holiday Walk this year and I don't want to disappoint;o) Anyway, I showed you the "new-to-us" chairs at the kitchen table. I wanted to give you a close up of what I did.
I found this set on Craigslist for $40. I was so happy to find them. S.R. and E destroyed the other set b/c they have an issue with sitting on their hind parts and the chairs were hitting the floor and smashing to bits. The seat covers were atrocious. Very old and dusty. I think I even found a creepy crawly in one, so they went in the garbage.
Using grain sacks, whether vintage or vintage looking, in home decor is very popular right now, and I had to jump on the bandwagon:o) I purchased my canvas from Lowes. (You wouldn't believe how cheap it is.) I covered the seat with the canvas. I then painted 3 stripes down the center of the seat with black acrylic paint. Super easy!  I will be making curtains to go over the kitchen windows with the left over canvas this week. Can't wait. Those poor windows look so barren right now.
Anyway, to keep these chairs in the condition that they are in right now, I put some more clear vinyl on them. Easy to clean and all of our guests won't be afraid to sit on the chairs for fear of ruining their pants:o) Sounds a little "Grandma-ish" you say? I think not..with 2 children under the age of 5 it's imperative since only 30% of the food that they fork actually goes IN their mouths:o)
We have also been working on the area under the bar. This is the before picture. I will share with you guys the "after" within the next couple of days.
I was hoping to catch all the nasty stains under the bar to show you why I was so excited about having this area redone...however the sun was shining brightly that day:o)
So I said that I wanted to do a giveaway. I have hit 150 followers...YAY! Big number round these parts:o) Since it's the season of giving, I thought I would give you guys a chance to win something fun...well at least I think it's fun:o)
I have a Toy Story 3 DVD to giveaway to one lucky follower.

This Giveaway is now closed...thank you for your participation!!!

Here's how to enter:
1st Entry: Be a follower or become a follower of Fussy Monkey Business and let me know that you are

2nd Entry: Tell all your Facebook buddies about this giveaway and ask them to join in on the fun

3rd Entry: Tell me who your favorite Toy Story character is....(mine is Ham...we sort of have the same humor;o))

The winner of the DVD will be announced on Thursday December 9th.  Good luck to you all!!

Day 2-Minnie Mouse Skirt & Ears Tutorial

I hope that you all had a great Monday. Yesterday was E's first day of preschool. He did great. I did great until I had to leave him. S.R. and I both cried when we got in the vehicle:( She cried b/c she wanted to stay at "pwe-skoo." I cried for the obvious reasons. He was unsure about being there, but when I came to pick him up he was all smiles.
So anyway, on to day 2 of Disney Week. Today I have the bottom half of a Minnie Mouse outfit. I have a white t-shirt to go with the skirt. I am going to have it monogrammed soon. I am sharing 2 tutorials today. For the skirt and the ears hair bows. The bloomers are a pair of shorts just like the Snow White shorts, but I ran elastic thru the cuffs of the legs and added the eyelet trim. L-O-V-E It!

Here's what you need:
Skirt:

-2 Coordinating Fabrics
-Elastic
-Thread

Hair Bows:

-Black Felt
-1" Grosgrain Ribbon
-Extra Thin Ribbon(not sure the measurements on the small ribbon)
-Thread and Needle
-Stick Pin
-Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
-Alligator Clips

Directions on the Skirt:

This skirt measures for a size 3T. Make your adjustments accordingly. Cut 8 4"x11" strips from the red and 8 6"x11" strips from the black.
Next, you just start sewing the long sides together, alternating colors. If you have a serger, that's great. If not, make sure to zig zag the edges to cut down on fraying. I did a straight seam first, and then a zig zag stitch.
Once you have sewn all of the pieces together, connect into a complete circle.

Press. Try to get all the seams pressed down in the same direction. This will help you later when running the elastic thru the casing. For the hem you will need to press 3/4" down and fold it under again and press to hide all raw edges. You will want to do the same for the waist, except fold down  1", and turn under, hiding all raw edges.
Stitch a seam all the way across the hem as close to the edge as possible. On the waist, you will want to leave an opening to run your elastic thru. Cut the elastic to the desired length. Put a safety pin on each end, and run it thru the casing.

Sew the ends together, making sure that the elastic hasn't turned, and stitch up your hole.
For the tulle skirt underneath, I just folded over the fabric ran a running stitch all the way down 1" from the fold.
Run the elastic thru and then sew up the seam. There was some excess, so I just trimmed the bottom when I was finished. Tulle doesn't fray, so no hemming:o)
Now for the ears:
Here is a pic of the supplies:

Make yourself a circle pattern. I used a circle cutter and it is 2 1/2" in diameter. Pin to felt, and cut 2.
Now here comes the tricky part. I will do my best to explain how to make the hair bows, but you may be better off searching online for some tips:o)
I made a 2" hair bow, so fold the ribbon over itself until you have this:
Can you see that there is 2 loops on each side? Now flare those pieces out...
Take your needle and thread and stitch that into place. Tie it off. Then wrap the thread tightly around the ribbon to make it look like this:
Make sure to tie that off as well. Now comes the fun part...hot glue...get ready to get singed;o)
Take the thin ribbon and place it in the center.
Place a small dot of glue on the back and wrap the ribbon around the thread. I know the picture looks like the ribbon is already wrapped around, but it isn't:o) I wound the thread around several times, and the flash bounced off of the thread.
Glue the bow to the circles, and then glue the circles to the alligator clips, making sure to have the clips facing opposite directions.
And that's it:o)
Ta-da
And because I love you all so very much....I am giving a pair of ears away to one lucky reader:o)
Just leave a comment on this post, and I will announce the winner on Friday! Have a great day my lovelies!!

Giveaway Time-Camera Strap Cover

 **This Giveaway is Closed.**
Whew, I am running slow today. Usually by this time of day, on a Wednesday, I am already on my way to the grocery store, then the gym, then swim lessons, but today I can't get my act together. I am siting here with my p.j.'s on, hair standing on end, and an empty cereal bowl sitting beside me, with no real motivation to get moving. We have been attending a marriage seminar at one of the local churches, and it is PHENOMENAL!! We have really enjoyed it, and they provide childcare...which is AWESOME:o) Anyway, we have been getting home late every night. It's wearing the babies out and us, but worth every minute. The kids are loving it too. So, I have been a little busy here lately and racking my brain, trying to come up with a cool giveaway that you would drool over. As I was perusing my blog list, I came across Tatertots and Jello . Love this blog! You guys definitely need to check it out, and become a follower to show your love. Jen made a camera strap, and she has been dying to have one. Here's a pic:
FABULOUS!
I have been dying to have one, but have been a tad too lazy to do it. So I thought to myself, why not make this the giveaway, and then I can get motivated to make one for me:o) If you aren't interested in me making you one, you can find a tutorial on Crap I've Made. This is also a FAB blog, and the title cracks me up every time I see it:o) Now I will be making a few "minor" adjustments to the camera strap. The one I will be offering will be a strap cover. The winner will get to pick the fabric they want for the cover. So here's whatcha do:
  • Leave a Comment Here(1st entry)
  • "Like" Fussy Monkey Business on Facebook, and tell me that you did it(2nd Entry) If you already "like" FMB on Facebook, just say so.
